State of Our Research

Clan Lindsay has a number of initiatives to research and record our genealogical data. If you are not already a member of the association, please consider joining. Members will have access to the following:

Articles in the Clan Lindsay Recorder by the Clan Genealogist addressing methodology and documentation for genealogical research.

Ability to request guidance from the Clan Genealogist. The Clan Genealogist can recommend resources or answer questions, but does not provide individual family research.

Lindsay International Surname DNA Project

https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/lindsey-lindsay/about

The DNA project is open to all males with a direct Lindsay descendant. As of 2020, over 20 lines have been identified. Members who match to an existing line are connected with others to further their genealogical research together. The genealogical information is currently held within the group and not publicly available. Interested parties can visit the website and contact Joe Lindsey, the project administrator.

Lindsay One-Name Study

https://lindsay.one-name.net/tng/

The One-Name Study is an effort to record all persons with the Lindsay/Lindsey name variants throughout history. Population of the database began in 2019 with over 1,000 names primarily from County Cavan and County Down in Ireland. Eventually, genealogical information from the DNA project and membership will be imported. For privacy and security reasons, only verified deceased individuals are eligible for inclusion.
Volunteers are being sought to validate existing information and conduct individual research. Individuals can also submit their own research for inclusion. A methodology and documentation manual is available to assist potential contributors in preparing their information.
